Two years later, in June 1973, Playgirl’s first issue hit the newsstand, with a mission similar to its long-standing counterpart: to feature nude centerfolds alongside hard-hitting features by and for women.
Whether or not the magazine continues to run its famous centerfold remains to be decided, the New York Times reports. If the centerfold is out, this wouldn’t be the first time there’s a Playboy minus the iconic spread.
The Playgirl.com website is owned and operated by BAOL LLC. In December 2015 Magna Publishing Group was acquired by 1-800-PHONESEX. The magazine is mainly marketed to heterosexual women.
