Has Anyone Died In Space

It’s hard to believe, but astronauts have died in space. Not only have they died in space, but they’ve also died in training for the mission. In the 60 years since the first astronauts set off for the moon, about 600 people have been in orbit. The statistics below show the fatality rates of astronauts in space, as well as in the preparation for the flight. Since the beginning of the Space Shuttle program in 1961, there have been 19 deaths in space and four deaths in the training process. In these cases, astronauts stay in a depressurisation chamber, which simulates the conditions that would exist on a spacecraft.

Among the astronaut deaths were Russians. In 1965, the astronaut Laika died in space when his cabin became overheated during the fourth orbit. His pulse rate decreased in weightlessness, and it took three times longer to return to pre-launch values than it did during a centrifuge ride on the ground. As a result, Laika’s death was an untimely one for NASA. Despite his efforts, he and his crew were among the most famous astronauts to die in space.

Another example of a human death in space is Buzz Aldrin. The second man to walk on the moon, Aldrin stood next to the moon’s “Eagle” on July 20, 1969. The bodies of these people do not decompose in space, but they would freeze or mummify. In addition, their bodies would not decompose if they died in a space suit. Their remains would remain frozen or mummified in space for as long as the space suit was airtight.
